A result of the 2008 recession, the CFPB is a federal agency devoted to protecting and advising consumers in financial matters.

The Federal Financial Literacy and Education Commission is a collaboration of "more than 20 Federal entities that are coordinating and collaborating to strengthen financial capability and increase access to financial services for all Americans."

"Federal Student Aid is responsible for managing the student financial assistance programs authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965. These programs provide grants, loans, and work-study funds to students attending college or career school."
