Lymph node. Coloured light micrograph of a section through a lymph node. A lymph node filters pathogens from lymph fluid, a watery liquid that surrounds the tissues of the body. The germinal centre of the node (pink) houses B lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell) and antibodies, which play important roles in the immune system.
